    Dear Yuri,

Thanks for the memories! I think that Ruth Steele would enjoy looking at the photos of the party she and Brian held during the Surrey meeting. You might remember that my daughter was there and helped with serving the drinks.

    Best Wishes

It was a great experience to partcipate in “Hydrogen in Oxides” with this brilliant and unconventional bunch of international scientists. For me, the most memorable experience was the wonderful trip I took to St. Petersburg in 2000. The arrival of another demanding project kept me away from Urals and Almaty, more is the pity, but it was handled expertly by Finn Willy.

I spent time learning to read words in the Cyrillic alphabet, walking in the streets and tasting the delicious coffee cooked in a sand heat exchanger. Also the hospitality of all of you and the brother of Arkady Neiman who came with acar to give us a night time tour.

Outside the RAS we took a photo, which I an sending to Yurii Mikhailovich fro posting.
If more turn up, I will send them too.

    best regards,

    Nikos
